There are many men out there that do not know much about what is and what isn’t appropriate to wear while at work. This is alright because many men have this common issue. A large amount of men did not get the opportunity to learn about fashion because they got used to their mothers dressing them or even their wives or girlfriends choosing their outfits. In a professional environment, suits that are tailored are an absolute must. Suits that are of a proper fit, have clean lines, good structure, and shape give a good impression, such as that the person is organized and works hard.
Colors of suits must be taken into consideration as well. Sticking to basic colors is smart. Medium and dark shades of blue are appropriate. Brown, black, gray, and tan are also good color options. Colors that are too bold should not be worn. Nobody in an office takes anyone wearing a red, orange, or purple suit seriously.
Suit patterns are to be considered also when choosing a suit. One fashionable pattern is pinstripes because they make men look stylish and put together. Texture that is subtle on a suit is also fine. Loud patterns should never be worn. Polka dots and color blocks should be avoided because they are not appropriate for the workplace.
You must also take into account which shoes to wear. You would never wear flip flops to work. This rule also applies to causal shoes like sneakers and sports shoes like tennis shoes. A nice loafer is always in style. After all, wearing a brown boot does not exactly say to employers ‘promote me.’
Choose the right accessories as well. Most men wear watches while at work. One variety to avoid is wearing a men’s sport watch, which doesn’t belong in the workplace. Watches that are brightly colored or that have cartoon characters on them, no matter how memorable or cute they are, should stay out of the workplace.
Try classic time pieces instead that are sophisticated. A leather watch will always look good with a suit and it’s simple. They can be worn casually and professionally and therefore are a good investment. Never over-accessorize, being simple is important.
